New to crypto? Cryptocurrency Basics is a 9 minute video that serves as a great intro to the world of crypto. It’s part of our Crypto and Web3 for Absolute Beginners course.
Imitate, then innovate. That’s a great blueprint for improving any skill (h/t David Perell). Including investing, I’d say. That should take some of the pressure off your shoulders because you don’t have to be a crypto genius right off the bat (and couldn’t be anyways)…

You’ve heard of DeFi but here comes DeSci
By know you (hopefully) know all about decentralized finance but today I want to introduce you to decentralized science as explained nicely by Sarah Hamburg:
A growing number of scientists and entrepreneurs are leveraging blockchain tools, including smart contracts and tokens, in an attempt to improve modern science. Collectively, their work has become known as the decentralized science movement, or DeSci.
GameFi has seen a lot of hype and investment lately because it’s a narrative that has gotten a lot of attention. At the end of the day though, investing in a money-making game doesn’t do much to move the world forward. It’s safe to say that you’re investment is more likely to positively impact humanity when it’s funneled into a category like blockchain-based Biotech (Molecule, VitaDAO, PsyDAO, Phage Directory, LabDAO, etc.) than gaming. FWIW.
Now that’s what I call crypto utility
People who know what they’re talking about in crypto often advise newbies to invest in crypto assets with real utility (that aren’t purely speculative and that do something useful).
What does utility look like? One interesting example is Arweave. Here’s what it does:
Arweave makes information permanence sustainable. Arweave is a new type of storage that backs data with sustainable and perpetual endowments, allowing users and developers to truly store data forever – for the very first time. As a collectively owned hard drive that never forgets, Arweave allows us to remember and preserve valuable information, apps, and history indefinitely. By preserving history, it prevents others from rewriting it.
Here it is in action:

This sort of utility is the sort that’s important to humanity. Does that make it as valuable as ETH’s utility? Obviously not all utility is created the same.
