A false argument against crypto
PLUS - Flow: the crypto underdog you need to know & crypto time machine!
New to crypto? Cryptocurrency Basics is a 9 minute video that serves as a great intro to the world of crypto. It’s part of my Crypto and Web3 for Absolute Beginners course.
Steve Case once said: “In the end, a vision without the ability to execute it is probably a hallucination.” So. What’s your crypto vision? I know you have the dream (otherwise you wouldn’t have signed up for this newsletter). How serious are you on the execution side?

A false argument against crypto
Mason Versluis hit the nail on the head recently when he said:
This statement has nothing to do with buying/selling crypto assets. It’s more about blockchain tech living underneath the surface.
When crypto adoption hits it’s peak… people won’t even know it’s crypto that they’re interacting with it just like you use the internet and don’t understand all the tech “under the hood.”
That’s why I like the idea of investing in the infrastructure (one reason I’m bullish ETH).
Flow: the crypto underdog you need to know
Packy just released a super interesting deep dive on Flow, the blockchain everyone seems to have forgotten about.
One of the first crypto projects I ever heard about and talked about with other people was NBA Top Shot. Guess what?! It’s built on Flow.
the bull case for Flow is that it’s playing a different, longer game.
Flow wants to win by getting as many regular consumers, or “normies,” onboarded as possible.
That means starting with the strategy most people associate with Flow: working with global brands those consumers love like the NBA, NFL, UFC, La Liga, and Dr. Seuss.
Flow is targeting both today’s normies and the next generation of users and builders so web3-native they won’t even call it web3.
I don’t hear any other chains being described in these terms. This is big talk.
Packy’s article is a worthwhile read and if Flow isn’t on your radar… maybe it should be?
Crypto time machine - Jan. 2021 to Present
I know there’s been a lot of red in my own portfolio recently so I thought we’d take a collective trip in the crypto time machine once more to see how certain assets have performed since January 2021 until present:
Ethereum: 300% return
Bitcoin: 50.84% return
Solana: 6,566% return
Avalanche: 2,525% return
Feeling a bit better? I thought so.
For reference, here’s how a few other assets performed during the same time frame:
Stocks: 15% return (S&P 500)
Commodity: 43% return
Gold: 4.57% return
Real Estate: 18.45% return
H/T cryptonary for the info.
